Form Design is an automotive design and development studio specialising in automotive design, digital modelling, Class-A surfacing, computational design, automotive visualisation, studio engineering and fabrication.

We work with design teams from early theme and proportion through development and release — challenging, refining and resolving the vision without losing the character that made it worth pursuing.
WE JUST BUILD THE SKETCH.
There is something in a great sketch — stance, gesture, tension, proportion — that can disappear the moment it becomes 3D. Capturing that character in Autodesk Alias is one of the things Form is known for. From fast concept models to production Class-A, we model the intent, not just the lines.
We model the logic. Not every iteration.
A small investment in a parametric model can unlock hundreds or thousands of live alternatives. Patterns, grilles, lamp graphics, structures and package-driven geometry can respond in real time as the inputs change. The model becomes the presentation — not yesterday’s screenshots in Keynote. AI-driven production NURBS modelling is still early; we are working at that edge, connecting emerging AI workflows with the parametric and surfacing tools a studio can actually use.

Parametric wheel and tyre example
A wheel and tyre built from the numbers a tyre is sold by: section width, aspect ratio and rim diameter, then the rim, the sidewall graphics, the hub and the brakes. It runs on Rhino.Compute from one of our Grasshopper definitions, rewritten in Python. Change a value and the definition solves again.
VISUALIZATION SO GOOD THE AD CAMPAIGN STARTS AT THE FIRST DESIGN REVIEW.
The car isn't finished. The surfaces are still moving. Engineering is still packaging. There isn't a prototype and nobody has booked the photographer. But you can already see the campaign. Form combines automotive 3D, real CAD data and AI to create advertising-quality imagery while the vehicle is still being designed. The same model being reviewed in the studio can already be driving through Los Angeles, sitting on a frozen lake, under the lights of Tokyo — or thirty feet high in Times Square. And not just one hero image. Hundreds of images. Different environments. Different stories. Different markets. Different audiences. All while the design continues to evolve.
PUT REALITY IN THE 3D MODEL EARLIER.
Package, vision, impact, homologation, structure and manufacturing requirements are coming anyway. We are developing AI-assisted studio engineering tools to bring those hardpoints into the design process sooner — while the model is still fluid. Resolve the difficult realities early and the concept becomes more believable because it is more real, leaving more time downstream to refine design and surface quality instead of wrestling a beautiful model back into compliance.

The hardpoints a design has to live with, before the surfaces exist: the proportion box, wheels and tyres, ground and ramp angles, the occupants row by row with their head contours, reach envelopes and vision, and the steering. Change a value and the scaffold solves again.
Now make it real.
Models, bucks, prototype parts and one-off builds take the work out of the screen and into the physical world. The point where surfaces become parts — and where millimetres, materials and finish decide whether the vision survived the journey.

A vehicle can begin with a clear vision and end with a thousand compromises.
Every stage introduces another requirement. Package moves. Engineering changes. Surfaces are rebuilt. Manufacturing asks different questions. Each decision can be perfectly reasonable — and still take the design a little further away from where it started.
Form Design works across the programme, from concept and development through Class-A, engineering and physical reality. That continuity matters. We understand what the designer was trying to achieve before the compromises began — and help find the solutions that preserve it.
